Tomorrow, Friday February 22 through Sunday, February 24, our church will host more than 100 people arriving here from as far away as Minnesota, Michigan, and surrounding states, to participating in workshops related to Interfaith Youth Core, UU College of Social Justice, KIVA, and for service projects related to Energy Efficiency, Homelessness, and LGBT Awareness. Saturday evening, the keynote presentation will be by singer-songwriter Denise Wilson: We Shall Overcome—200 Years of Singing for Justice in America!
Most of the foods requested for the CON have now been donated—thank you so much for your generosity! If you still have items you would like to bring in, please contact Jody Tishmack at <firstname.lastname@example.org>.
We are still in need of volunteers to help in the kitchen. An updated Excel spread-sheet is attached above for you to see which time-slots you might be able to volunteer for. Lisa Pantea is coordinating the kitchen volunteer-sign up; her e-mail address appears above. Lisa and Jody will be in the kitchen area most of the time this weekend, but they would like at least 2-3 individuals per time slot to be on-hand as well. Please let Lisa know today at your earliest convenience whether you are able to volunteer—all persons on-hand during the CON-weekend must undergo pro-forma background checks, which need to be facilitated as soon as possible.
Thank you again for helping out and making this first large-scale Youth Con sponsored by our UU church a welcoming, great success!
