Social Justice: Movie, “In-laws and Outlaws” Nov 3

The Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Church is planning a screening of the movie In-laws & Outlaws on Nov. 3rd at 3pm in Room 101/103. A discussion will follow the movie. The movie cleverly weaves together the true stories of couples and singles —both gay and straight — into a collective narrative that is as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. for more information see The purpose of this event is to publicize the bill HJR-6, which is an anti-freedom amendment to the Indiana Constitution that would permanently ban all protections for same-sex couples and their families and remove existing protections for unmarried Hoosiers. This bill was passed by the legislature last year; it will come up again in 2014. If it passes again, it will be on the ballot in November 2014. Last May the UU Church sponsored the movie, the filmmaker and a discussion of the movie and GLBTQ issues at Sylvia’s Ballroom in Lafayette.  Contact co-chairs Tom McConville, or Joan Marshall, for more.
