Update on 2013 LUM Jubilee Christmas

On Saturday December 14th. our church in partnership with the Lafayette Friends Meeting and the Church of the Brethren played host to thirteen families as part of the Lafayette Urban Ministry’s annual Jubilee Christmas event. An event that helps parents and guardians provide a holiday meal and toys for their children.

Without the generous contributions of toys, money and time by hundreds of volunteers these families would not be able to afford the cost of all the things needed during the holidays to make the season a happy time for their children; therefore on behalf of myself and my co-coordinators Jean Tyner, of the UU Church, Liz O’Neil of the Lafayette Friends Meeting, and Kristy Frier, of the Church of the Brethren, I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this year’s LUM Jubilee Christmas a success.

To Reverend Charlie, who took time out of his busy schedule to welcome our guest families with his thoughtful words; to everyone who purchased a toy for a child, played host to a family; wrapped gifts; or helped out in the Church of the Brethren kitchen; you folks made it possible for our guest families to enjoy the holidays without the burden of wondering how they were going to provide for their families during what can be a very stressful time of year; and to this congregation for supporting the Lafayette Urban Ministry in all it does to help people in our community. Thank you to all, and to all a Happy Holiday Season!
